This place was always treated as the place were I would spend many hours shopping, sleeping or fetching quests from, mainly because of how populated the place is, offering a lot of safety. Rivet Cityįormerly a functional aircraft carrier, is now a beached, decaying and rusty aircraft carrier in Washington DC. Not to mention, the vault and childish theme of the place make the place stand out from other places, with very different, and interesting rules. In retaliation, the kids attacked the residents of the vault, kicking them out.Īlthough I hate every soul that lives in Little Lamplight, it is on my list because of how the place reminds me of Goonies, and I love the Goonies. One adult stepped out, eventually, and told them to “go away” saying “they were already dead”. The kids had to fend for themselves leading to one kid electing himself as mayor, eventually encountering the vault inside the caverns, which lead to them knocking on the door, pleading for help. Freaky stuff! But then, most of the adults either died off or left, leaving all the kids, except for one adult who left to go scavenging but never returned. While one teacher left to see what was happening, he soon returned to announce Washington was engulfed in mushroom clouds. They explored the deep caverns, but suddenly, the caverns started to shake. It turns out, in 2077, 82 students from an elementary school went on a field trip to Lamplight Caverns with some teachers. Their aggression towards adults is what interested me in learning more about their past. There’s still a school with classes happening, strangely enough, and they are all well armed, which fits with their aggressive introduction they give you. The children here use contraptions to raise and lower gates, and have their own society working. Basically, Little Lamplight’s only population are children, since they kick out anyone who turns 16 years old there (Random fact: The term for these older people are “Mungos”, and are seen as unfitting in their society), which seems stupid, but when the game doesn’t allow children to die, you realise why these children have the advantage. But I guess the super mutants in the vault connected all count as being Sloth. Little LamplightĮver seen the Goonies? Yes? Good, that’s all Little Lamplight contains really little Goonie wannabes, minus Sloth. Also, Moira diminishes Megaton to number 5, to be honest. Megaton is only 5th on my list, but if it was featured in more events, it’d be higher on my list. Oh yeah, the church there, The Church Of The Children Of Atom, worshiped the nuke there, believing each atomic mass contains within it an entire universe, and when an atomic mass is split many universes are created. These crazy people saw the great war as a way for many universes to be created. The citizens greeted me, Confessor Cromwell would ignore me as he preached to the still active, radioactive nuke in the center of Megaton and I would enter my earned house to listen to the many, um… “great” nerdy jokes my own robot butler would say to me. Sadly she survives being nuked, somehow, and becomes a ghoul.Īfter a long day, I liked to return here. She is actually the reason I blew up Megaton in my second playthrough. But still, she did give me easy XP and paid well in some respect, which makes her memorable as well. Her voice, her unawareness of the dangers of the wasteland and her voice make me regret choosing to do her quests, helping make the Wasteland Survival Guide. There are many other characters living in this settlement, Moira Brown being one, who I hate with a passion. Gob is the reason I didn’t blow up Megaton the first time, he made me care for his survival, being a cool ghoul. Gob is a cool ghoul, and will give you discounts and information if you speak to him like a human, instead of the ghoul he may be. Nukes are cool, but hey, I haven’t introduced Gobtholemew “Gob” yet. Even though he offers you a place in Tenpenny Tower, he also offers to blow Megaton up with a nuke. Burke sits inside Moriarty’s Saloon, casually calling you over to discuss matters with him. I called the Protectron Katie.īesides Katie, the sheriff of the community greets you too, and gives a brief history of events in the settlement, which only interested me in learning more about this “delightful” place. Not to mention, a friendly Protectron even welcomes you inside Megaton, which instantly drawn me inside. Upon exiting Vault 101, this should be the first settlement you come across, with its shanty walls made out of aircraft debris that stand out from a distance. In this short list, I will talk briefly about my favourite locations from Fallout 3, depending on their backstory and the events that occur there. Fallout 4 is around the corner (Finally!) and all we can do until its release is look back at the reward winning Fallout 3.
